Here
is a list of just part of the many reasons why being a parent at a
cooperative school is so rewarding:
-
Time
to observe your child and others in a group setting.
-
A
solid knowledge of what your child does and learns at school.
-
Useful
ideas for helping your child at home and in the world around them.
-
A
voice in the administration and operation of your child's school.
-
Insight
into childhood behavior and development.
-
Resources
and ideas to use at home that allow you to reinforce and build upon
what your child learns at school.
-
Parental
support and friendship during the joyous and challenging times of
parenting young children.
-
A
chance to contribute your abilities and discover hidden talents within
yourself.
Here
is an overview of the parents role:
Parents
contribute by attending orientation prior to the first day of school,
choosing a preschool job, being the “special helper” in the classroom
every 4-8 weeks, attending general membership meetings once every 4
months, and going on field trips with your child. You can become
even more involved by taking a board position. The MCP provides a
way in which you can be involved on many different levels - as little or
as much as you would like!
